Do I have to register in any case?


In Germany, there is a general obligation to register for every resident, regardless of nationality. The place of residence must be registered within 14 days of moving into the apartment. A confirmation of the accommodation provider about the day of moving in must be submitted.

Without this registration certificate, you cannot open an account in Germany or sign any contracts.

Which documents do I need?

What do I need a registration certificate for?

If you have registered for the first time in Germany, you will become one within the next 1-2 weekstax numberreceived from the tax office. You need this in order to be able to work in Germany.

The application can be made at the residents 'registration office or at the citizens' office of the respective place of residence.
